01 — The problem
Every interface of the last fifty years asked the same thing of you: stop what you are doing, hold this rectangle, and give it your eyes. We called it convenience. It was a tax, paid in attention, roughly four hours a day.
02 — The idea
For four years a team of eleven optical physicists asked a different question. Not how do we make the display better, but what if there were no display at all — what if the machine simply met you where you already were, in the room, in the light, in the moment.
03 — The machine
A 41-gram band steers coherent light into 128 independent depth planes, resolved against your retina in nine tenths of a millisecond. It reads the room, not you. And when you have what you came for, it is gone.
Technology
Nine micro-emitters steer coherent light through a lithium-niobate lattice, resolving 128 addressable depth planes in free air. No lens between you and the image. No glass to clean.
An on-device model decides what never reaches you. Aether holds every notification against your context — where you are, who you are with, what you are mid-sentence about — and stays quiet. On average it suppresses 94% of them.
Solid-state cells and a projection engine that idles at 40 milliwatts. Eighteen hours of continuous field, or four days of ambient standby. It charges on the same pad as everything else you own.
No home screen, no app grid, no dock. Intent arrives as language or gesture and the surface assembles itself around it — then dissolves. The average session lasts eleven seconds, which is exactly the point.
